WALT identify NZ notes and coins

WALT identify NZ notes and coins.

We had Captain Cash from ASB come to visit Room 4.
We learnt lots about saving money, spending money and
sharing money.

Miss Donnell decided to test us and see if we remembered how to sort out the coins and notes from biggest to smallest.

Look at my sorting success!

WALT identify 2D and 3D shapes

WALT identify 2D and 3D shapes.

This term Room 4 have been learning about
shapes. We have been learning about how to
sort shapes and what different shapes look like.

Miss Donnell took us outside to test our knowledge
on what shapes we know. She gave us some
chalk to try and draw the shapes we knew. Then
she said shapes out loud like rectangle, triangle,
a shape with 3 sides and we had to try and draw
them!

WALT count backwards from 10

WALT count backwards from 10.

The Starfish have been working on counting backwards from 10. We used teddy bears to help line up the numbers and we counted them backwards. Then we had to line up the honey pots backwards too!

'I know how to count the numbers backwards and forwards.'

Shape Pictures

We are learning to recognise 2d shapes in every day life.

Room 0 have been busy exploring shapes in a range of different ways.  One activity we did was to choose a range of 2d shapes and put them together to create a picture.  By doing this nga tamariki are able to see how shapes can be seen all around us every day.

"I made a machine with the shapes", said Kimberly.

I am learning to add numbers together up to 5

In Maths we having been learning to add 2 digits together when the total is no more than 5.  We learnt that when we add 0 to a number we are adding nothing so the number stays the same.  We also learnt that when we add 1 to a number it is the same as saying the number that comes after.

"I like doing 1+1=2 because I am fast at saying it."
